What is Cooks+Gardens?

The PPS Cooks+Gardens program, a joint program of PPS and Princeton School Gardens Cooperative, brings a professional chef, a kitchen assistant, and the district’s own PMS Edible Gardens Educator/Steward in to the PPS Teaching Kitchens to teach groups of 15 students (max 3 for each kitchen station) the basics of five-senses, hands-on seed-to-table cooking and gardening.

Janet Gaudino, PMS science teacher, has been faculty advisor since the beginning of the program in April 2013. Shannon Barlow, food systems literacy coordinator, will coordinate this work behind the scenes.

Before 2020, we had a framework, a faculty member, and funding in place to expand the program to include PHS students in separate sessions.
